Data Management in Mobile Computing and Sensor Networks
Overview
The main research interests of the group include Data Management for Systems and
Networks, Information Systems, Energy-efficient Distributed Processing, ICT services
for eHealth and Ambient Assisted Living. The group has a long term participation
in research projects funded from national and international organizations, including
the European Union and the Cyprus Research Foundation (RPF). More specifically,
the group has participated in a number of IST projects related to mobile, wireless,
sensor networks and distributed computing, such as SocialRobot, CoLiving, IPAC,
CONET, mPower, LinkCare, HealthService24, and also RPF-funded projects like: PersonaWeb,
FireWatch, MELCO, EKPAIDEION, DITIS.

- Communication - Synchronize reception/transmission windows [DISN07, MDM08, SENTIE09,

- In-network Aggregation - Receive child results and compute final local Top-k results

- Storage - Find the Top-k local results (sort, prune locally on flash-based storage)

- Mobility - Fault Tolerance through Data Replication [DMSN07, DAPD11]
- Smartphones – efficient query routing trees (MDM11, IJCAI11)
